Nice of you to join us, let’s start saving you time on Slack! This article will explain how to link your Slack workspace with a Sheriff account, how to set up rotating rosters and interact with sheriff bot. Before we begin, you will need a Slack workspace ready to go!

1. Install Slack app

First, you will need to add Sheriff bot to your Slack workspace. Just click the link below, read and grant Sheriff permission to join your workspace and you’re good to go.

2. Connect Slack with Sheriff

Once you’ve installed the Slack app, head over to Slack and try tagging @sheriff in any public channel. Make sure Sheriff bot is in the channel that you are sending this message to, if Sheriff bot is not in the channel, Slack will ask you to invite Sheriff bot to the channel.

Sheriff bot will respond with a unique link to connect your Slack workspace to a Sheriff account. Follow the link provided.

3. Create a Sheriff account

If you haven’t got an account with Sheriff yet, you will be prompted to create one before we continue with the connection process.

4. Create and choose a team

Next, you will be prompted to select a team to connect your Slack workspace to. A team allows you to controls settings, manage billing and connect multiple workspaces under 1 Sheriff account. Create a new Sheriff team to get started, all you need is a name.

After you create a team, click on the new team that you’ve just created to finish the process. And that’s it! Your Slack workspace is now connected to a Sheriff team and you can get started using Sheriff bot.
